The Gospel Book of Mark

"It is such a comfort that our daily experience, good or bad, is Lord's opportunities to prepare us to be his gospel preacher."

The book of Mark is really a book about gospel preaching. This book starts with the verse saying: "The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the son of God," and right away we see John the Baptist was preaching the gospel. In the same chapter, after John was imprisoned, Jesus started proclaiming the gospel of God. At the end of Mark, the last verse of the book, the Bible says: "and they went out and preached everywhere, the Lord working with them and confirming the word by the accompanying signs."

In the beginning, only one person was preaching the gospel, but at the end, a lot of people were preaching the gospel. And their preaching was what God really wanted, because Lord Himself was confirming their work. Isn't that marvelous? In the beginning, people were just started hearing the gospel, but at the end, they became the gospel preachers.

Were those people born of gospel-preachers? No, and neither are we. However, this Mark showed us how Jesus prepared everyone to be gospel preachers: we were called by Jesus, we witnessed various healing, we heard the teaching Jesus talked, we received revelations from the Lord, we conversed with Him, we loved Him; and we also made mistakes, we questioned God, we did not understand his words or actions, we sometimes did not even trust Him.

But the Lord Jesus was determined. Everyday he kept on revealing Himself to us, teaching us, and bringing us onward, even unto his death and resurrection. Unknowingly, we were ready to preach gospel. Surprised? If we read carefully, this book of Mark never mentioned if any of the disciples became better. Even near the end of the book, no one believed Jesus was resurrected. Mark simply talked about Lord's commend to have them preach gospel to all creation and baptize people in the water. As we can see, right away they were all preaching the gospel.

We are all in Mark, went thru the same thing as the disciples went thru. It is such a comfort that our daily experience, good or bad, is Lord's opportunities to prepare us to be his gospel preacher. This is a wonderful book.
